SD DOH: 1017 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, 9 deaths statewide

PIERRE, S.D. — On Sunday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 1017 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 37,979.

46 of Sunday’s 1063 cases are considered as probable cases.

9 South Dakota residents have died from coronavirus-related complications with one death west river in Ziebach county.

271 cases were reported in West River: 94 in Pennington County, 35 in Oglala Lakota County, 22 in Lawrence County, 18 in Todd County, 15 in Meade County, 13 in Lyman County, 11  in Butte County, 10 in Corson County, seven in Dewey and Haakon Counties, six in Mellette and Tripp Counties, five in Custer and Fall River Counties, four in Gregory and Jackson Counties, three in Stanley County, two in Bennett and Harding Counties, and one in Perkins and Ziebach Counties.

In South Dakota, 10,745 cases are considered active, that number is up from 10,218 on Saturday. An additional 526 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 28,083.

366 people are currently hospitalized, with a total of 2,436 people have ever been hospitalized.
