SD Democratic candidate for governor Jamie Smith wraps up Rapid City visit

Rep. Smith made an appearance at Rapid City Summer Nights on Thursday before Friday's Robbinsdale Rally for a chance to meet the people of the Black Hills.

RAPID CITY, S.D. — On Friday, Jamie Smith, Sioux Falls Representative and Democratic candidate for governor, finished up his visit to Rapid City following a rally at Robbinsdale Park.

Jamie Smith In Rc 5Rep. Smith made an appearance at Rapid City Summer Nights on Thursday before Friday’s Robbinsdale Rally for a chance to meet the people of the Black Hills.

During his rally, Rep. Smith spoke to constituents about their issues — specifically healthcare — and the state’s ongoing mission to help people find more affordable housing.

“We spend a lot of money on infrastructure, but we actually have to see that implemented,” Rep. Smith said. “The price of housing and finding affordable housing is hard for everybody across our state and so those are things that ring true. Healthcare is an issue that South Dakotans really need, and so you know when we talk about Medicaid expansion and things like that. That rings true to everybody.”

Rep. Smith is also set to host meet and greets in Brookings and Madison over the next couple of weeks.
