SD COVID-19 cases rise by 72, six new cases in Pennington County

PIERRE, S.D. — Confirmed coronavirus cases in South Dakota rose by 72 on Saturday as the statewide total exceeds 3,900.

There are currently six new cases in Pennington County and now 34 of the county’s 49 confirmed positives are considered active.

There are three new cases in Oglala Lakota County, bringing the county’s total to nine. Eight are active.

One new case was reported in Todd County. 16 have tested positive and 11 are active. Adjacent to Todd County is Tripp County where two people have tested positive for COVID-19.

Minnehaha County saw an increase of 18 cases. Minnehaha County holds 3,119 of South Dakota’s 3,959 confirmed cases.

A total of 1,242 cases are currently active.

The state reports 99 new recoveries, bringing the total to 2,673 across the state. No new deaths were reported.

A total of 75 people are currently hospitalized in relation to the coronavirus.
