SD Attorney General Ravnsborg involved in fatal crash near Highmore

HIGHMORE, S.D. — South Dakota’s Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg was involved in a crash near Highmore on Saturday, September 12.

The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 14 in Hyde County at about 10:30 p.m., just west of Highmore. One fatality has been reported from the accident.

The information came via a news conference that was held by Gov. Noem in Sioux Falls on Sunday.

Law enforcement has been working to identify the deceased and notify the family members of the victim. The South Dakota Highway Patrol will lead the investigation.

The South Dakota Department of Public Safety Craig Price will oversee the investigation and reported to Gov. Kristi Noem. The condition of the Attorney General is not yet known at this time.

Ravnsborg has released the following statement,

“I am shocked and filled with sorrow following the events of last night. As Governor Noem stated, I am fully cooperating with the investigation and I fully intend to continue do so moving forward. At this time I offer my deepest sympathy and condolences to the family.”
