Schlabach signs on to play football at the University of Northwestern

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Sam Schlabach from Rapid City Christian signed a letter of intent this week to compete in football next year at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Schlabach, who played both middle linebacker and quarterback for the Comets, plans to play outside linebacker for the Eagles.

This past season, the senior finished with 169 tackles, 10 sacks and three interceptions.

Offensively, he passed for over 1,437 and 19 touchdowns.

Sam will join his brother Zane who currently plays for the University of Northwestern.

“I chose the University of Northwestern over the other schools that I visited just because of the atmosphere on the team and at the campus,” said Sam Schlabach. “The campus is super nice. All the guys on the football team are awesome. I’ve met a lot of them. The coaches are really cool guys and they seem to be really good football coaches so.”
