Saturday’s College and High School Football Roundup

RAPID CITY, S.D. – After a convincing win over Missouri S&T during week one of the season, the South Dakota Mines football team returned home on Saturday to play Truman State.

The Bulldogs scored 13 points in the first quarter and jumped out to a 20-6 halftime lead.

The Hardrockers closed the gap in the second half by scoring two touchdowns in the final four minutes of the fourth quarter.

But Truman State would hold on to win, 27-20.

Spencer Zur led the Hardrockers in passing with 187 yards and two touchdowns.

Jeremiah Bridges and Isaiah Eastman combined for 18 receptions for 190 yards and two touchdowns.

South Dakota Mines falls to 1-1 on the season.

The Hardrockers will begin conference play on Sept. 17th as they travel to Colorado to play Colorado Mesa University.


Black Hills State 38, William Jewell College 19

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State football improved to 2-0 on Saturday with a win over William Jewell College, 38-19.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Nolan Susel who rushed 12 times for 84 yards and three touchdowns.

Black Hills State will hit the road on Sept. 17 to play Chadron State at 6 p.m.

High School Football

RAPID CITY, S.D. – St. Thomas More defeated Belle Fourche on Saturday night, 41-7.

JonPaul Sullivan was outstanding for the Cavaliers throwing three touchdown passes.

STM running back Matthew Larson left the game in the first half with an injury and did not return.

But according to head coach Wayne Sullivan, Larson’s injury doesn’t appear to be that serious.

He didn’t play the rest of the game as a precautionary measure.

The fourth-ranked Cavaliers are now 3-0 on the season.

STM will visit Hot Springs on Sept. 16 to play the Bison.

Meanwhile, Belle Fourche falls to 1-2 and will play at Chamberlain on Sept. 16.
