Sasquatch open three-game series with win over Whiskey Jacks
SPEARFISH, S.D. — Compared to last year, the Spearfish Sasquatch are off to a great start this season.
The Sasquatch are 7-3 in their last 10 games and are just a half game behind Western Nebraska for the top spot in the Clark Division.
The Sasquatch opened a three-game series on Tuesday night against the Wheat City Whiskey Jacks from Brandon, Manitoba.
Spearfish used a combination of strong pitching and timely hitting to beat Wheat City, 11-1.
The Sasquatch racked up 14 hits in the game.
Jake Gray went five for five at the plate and finished with four RBIs. Meanwhile, Josue Rangle had four hits and scored three runs.
Zach Filos earned the victory on the mound for Spearfish. He pitched a complete game, allowing one run and six hits with eight strikeouts.
The Sasquatch improve to 10-5 on the season while the Whiskey Jacks fall to 5-10.
The two teams will square off again on Wednesday and Thursday. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. both nights.
