Santa and Mrs. Claus meet kids before the Christmas parade in Hill City
HILL CITY, S.D. – Santa Claus and Mrs. Clause took a break from their workshop Friday afternoon to visit with kids at the Hill City Center. The children shared with Santa what they wanted for Christmas, and the Clauses asked whether the kids where nice or naughty this year.
Any kids that stopped by with their parents got a few treats like candy canes, cookies and apples.
“What we were trying to do this make this very family-friendly and convenient for Santa who’s taking a break from the workshop and to make it friendly and warm and convenient for our families who come to visit for the kids of all ages,” Janet Wetovick-Bily, executive director of the Hill City Area Chamber of Commerce, said.
This was the first year that the Hill City Chamber hosted the event.

There are plans to continue this event every year, mainly because of how big the two Clauses are.
“What we want to do is make it a nice spot where it’s nicely decorated and it’s a great opportunity for families to come before the parade while still warm and before the kids get tired,” Wetovick-Bily said.
