LEAD, S.D. — The Sanford Underground Research Facility is getting ready to host the citywide Neutrino Day festival this Saturday in Lead.

The festival will kick off at the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center in Lead, but activities can be found all along Main Street. This year’s Neutrino Day includes a variety of tours, science activities and exhibits, live video chats with scientists from both CERN and Sanford Lab, and the annual visit from SDPB’s “Science Steve.”

“Neutrino Day is our favorite day of the year at Sanford Lab,” said Constance Walter, communications director. “It’s a great way for us to give back to our community and state, and there’s something for everyone. It’s just a lot of fun!”

The Black Hills Symphony Orchestra will also be part of this year’s festival, performing at the Homestake Opera House with astronomer and visual artist Jose Francisco Salgado.

A complete list of events can be found at the Sanford Lab’s Neutrino Day website.
