Participants in the Angel Tree drive place a tree in a busy part of their facility with tags hanging from the branches. Each tag has an age and a gender. Passers-by can then take a tag and purchase a gift appropriate for the age and gender.

Salvation Army Auxiliary Capt. Michelle Johnson believes that all children are entitled to happiness during the holiday season.

“We realize that families fall short, and there’s a lot of poverty in our area,” Johnson said. “We don’t want those children and families to go without this Christmas. We want them to know that someone is thinking about them; someone cares about them.”

The gift drive officially begins Nov. 1.

If your business or organization is interested in participating, contact Kelly Sickels at 605-342-0982.
