Salvation Army looking for holiday volunteers

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Salvation Army of the Black Hills has several volunteer opportunities this holiday season, and many opportunities for those in need.

Sign-ups have already begun for volunteering for the Salvation Army bell ringers and this year, registration is online.

Other opportunities coming up include volunteering for the November 9 “Stuff the Sleigh” and 2019 “Turkey Round Up” on November 23. For Salvation Army workers, the holiday season brings special meaning for volunteering.

So I grew up with the Salvation Army,” said Capt. Kelsie Moreno of the Salvation Army, “and one of my favorite activities was always bell ringing […] I grew up in Minnesota and it was a fantastic time to get out there in the cold. Two hours can make a big difference, and it’s amazing the conversations you have at the red kettle with people who are passing by.”
