Ryan Larsen steps down as SD Mines women’s basketball coach

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota School of Mines will have a new women’s basketball coach next season.

Ryan Larsen is stepping down after six years to become an assistant women’s basketball coach at the University of Wyoming in Laramie.

Larsen is leaving the School of Mines with a 73-87 record and two appearances in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference post-season women’s basketball tournament.

Prior to arriving in Rapid City, he spent five years in Vermillion as the assistant women’s basketball coach at the University of South Dakota.

Wyoming is a member of the Mountain West Conference.

The Cowgirls are under the direction of Gerald Mattinson who will be entering his first season as Wyoming’s women’s basketball head coach. However, Mattinson has been with the program for 16 years.
