Rush’s “Ladies & Laces” night to benefit local youth hockey
The ladies of the Rapid City Rush will face off against the moms of the Rushmore Thunder Tuesday, March 8 in a fundraiser game for local youth hockey
RAPID CITY, S.D. — You might’ve been to a hockey game, but probably not one like this.
The ladies of the Rapid City Rush – wives, girlfriends, and staff – are going head-to-head against the moms of the Rushmore Thunder on Tuesday night, and for a good cause.
It’s the second year for the event, which was started by Rush higher-ups Jared Reid and Todd Mackin. The game is a fundraiser for the Rushmore Thunder and helps keep hockey local and accessible.
While some have skating experience, it’s really all in good fun.
“I would say this year we have more people with experience on our team than the years before. I know it’s kind of a mixed bag for the Rushmore Thunder moms as well. It’s kind of fun, we do practices like you can see today and just get everyone out on the ice and have fun,” said Kayleigh Schmidt, director of social and creative content for the Rapid City Rush.
