Rushmore Mall placed on secure status after armed robbery attempt
RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Rushmore Mall was placed on a brief secure status after an armed robbery was reported at M & K Knifeworx Monday afternoon.
Rapid City Police Department responded to reports of an armed robbery at Rushmore Mall. The suspect walked into M & K Knifeworx before 4 p.m. with a handgun and demanded money from the cashier. When the suspect left and authorities were contacted, the mall was placed on secure status.
Officers began patrolling the mall and the surrounding area to search for the suspect. At this time, the male suspect is still at large and police have not released a full description him.
The Rushmore Mall is now open to the public as the secure status has been lifted.
