Rushmore Mall closes doors, some businesses continue limited services

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rushmore Mall in Rapid City closed over the weekend after a city ordinance went into effect that limits places of gathering.

According to Kathleen Stark, marketing manager at Rushmore Mall, the mall closed end of day Friday.

“We are monitoring the situation closely,” said Stark. “Rushmore Mall brings people together, and we will continue to do so once we are past this current situation.”

Stores with outside access to the mall are tailoring their operations or making their own decisions to close all together.

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is open for curbside and delivery services. At Home furniture store and Game Stop are not open to the public but are continuing curbside pickup. Patrons can order online or call in with a product code to purchase goods. Cluck It is offering delivery and curbside orders.

Outside the mall, Olive Garden and Texas Roadhouse are offering curbside and delivery. Hobby Lobby remains open.

JC Penney announced March 18 they would close all stores but re-open again April 2. Starbucks has closed it’s in-store cafes at the mall though other locations in Rapid City still offer drive-thru services.
