Rushmore Bowl: RC Stevens rallies to beat Washington, Sturgis blanks RC Central

RAPID CITY, S.D. – It was a big Saturday in high school football.

The Rushmore Bowl was held at O’Harra Stadium.

The Rushmore Bowl reached a milestone this year.

The event celebrated it’s 30th year of raising money for over 120 athletic teams and organizations at Rapid City Central and Stevens.

Rapid City Stevens 26, SF Washington 21

Rapid City Stevens opened the season with a victory.

The Raiders trailed by one at halftime against Sioux Falls Washington, 21-20.

But Stevens scored another touchdown in the second half and held on for the win, 26-21.

Since 2019, Stevens has won three out of its last four Rushmore Bowl games.

The Raiders will travel to Box Elder on Sept. 2 to play the Douglas Patriots.

 

Sturgis 38, Rapid Central Central 0

Meanwhile, the Sturgis Scoopers earned their first win at the Rushmore Bowl for the first time since 2010.

The Scoopers shut out Rapid City Central, 38-0.

The Scoopers look to stay undefeated as they travel to Mitchell on Saturday, Sept. 3 to face the Kernels.

On the other hand, the Cobblers look to regroup as they play at Sioux Falls Lincoln on Friday, Sept. 2.
