Rush edge the Steelheads in a 7-round shootout

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Tyler Coulter scored in the seventh round of a shootout Friday night for the Rapid City Rush, who stormed back from a two-goal, third-period deficit to edge the visiting Idaho Steelheads, 3-4.

The game was scoreless after the first period. But then the Steelheads grabbed the lead in the second period with a goal by Anthony Nellis.

Idaho doubled its lead with 53 seconds remaining in the second thanks to a goal by Eric Sweetman.

However, the Rush battled back in the third period. Trey Phillips and Giovanni Fiore each scored a power play goal to tie it up at two apiece.

Coulter then won it for the Rush in the seventh round of the shootout.

Tyler Parks set aside 34 of 36 shots and was 7 for 7 in the shootout.

The Rush will wrap up their three-game series against Idaho on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

The honor guard will feature the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe.
