Run for the Homeless 5K Run/Walk

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Homeless people in Rapid City can expect a little bit more support thanks to a local fundraiser.

The Cornerstone Rescue Mission held their annual Run for the Homeless 5K Run/Walk at Founder’s Park Saturday.

Despite some frost on the trees, dozens still participated in the fundraiser, running from Founder’s Park to Sioux Park and back, as well as donating to the Mission.

Cornerstone organizers used the 5K to meet and thank community members for their support throughout the years.

“They’re great people; they’re very generous, not only with their time and money, but they just want to learn and help the Mission,” said Cornerstone Mission Executive Director Lysa Allison. “They know that we’re a nice ministry. We’re family-friendly, and it’s just a really nice day. We’ve got some board members that are out meeting people as well.”

The Mission’s next fundraiser is the Cornerstone Celebrates Banquet set in March 2019.
