“Round ‘Em Up Week” fundraising campaign for the United Way of the Black Hills is coming up
RAPID CITY, S.D. – The United Way of the Black Hills (UWBH) is hosting their first “Round ‘Em Up” Packet and Donation Collection Week beginning on Monday, Nov. 16.
In past years, UWBH has held a “Day of Giving” fundraiser. However, the pandemic has caused them to try something different to encourage donations for their 2020-2021 campaign. With nearly 88% of nonprofit organization across South Dakota experiencing a negative impact due to the pandemic, this is going to be an especially important year when it comes to donations. Just here in the Black Hills region, fundraisers like this one help to support nearly 50 nonprofit organizations.
Executive Director of UWBH, Jamie Toennies says “it’s an opportunity to collect donations and build some energy around our campaign this year. These dollars are so important. 100% stays local here in the Black Hills and goes to help our nonprofit organizations to provide the services they do. Our focus is really on education, financial stability and health. And so we invest in nonprofits who are helping community members in those ways.”
Toennies says this year’s goal is $2,052,000 and there is a specific reason as to why they are aiming for such a specific number. “We have community cabinets in every region here in the black hills. We work with those volunteers. they help us determine those goals. They also help us give out the dollars that we raise to the nonprofits. So again you know when you’re giving to the black hills that you can trust that it’s really staying local and helping our local community,” said Toennies.
The “Round ‘Em Up” Packet and Donation Collection Week is from Nov. 16 – 20th. For more information on how to get involved with this fundraiser, click here.
