PINE RIDGE RESERVATION, S.D. — The Treasurer of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe is facing criminal drug charges following an incident on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

A release from the Oglala Sioux Tribe indicates that Mr. Stephen Denoyer III was arrested on September 23, 2019, after items in his hotel room at the Prairie Winds Hotel tested positive for methamphetamine.

Denoyer was charged in Oglala Sioux Tribal Court with possession and ingestion of methamphetamines and was issued a bench warrant when he failed to return for court. The Tribe says Denoyer was picked up on the warrant in October of 2021, but that he failed to attend another court date in March 2022.

His next court date is set for May 19.

The Oglala Sioux Tribe says they are seeking more than $37,000 in restitution for the damages caused to the hotel room.
