Rosebud Man pleads not guilty to assault and child abuse

ROSEBUD S.D. – A Rosebud man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Assault by Strangulation and Suffocation and Child Abuse.

36-year-old Edward Leon Wilson also known as Eddie Wilson, was indicted on Oct. 16, 2018 and plead not guilty On Dec. 18.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 15 years in federal prison and/or a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.  Restitution may also be ordered.

Prosecutors say Wilson strangled and suffocated someone he was dating in September. Officials also say Wilson abused a minor.

The investigation is being conducted by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Wilson was released on bond pending trial.  A trial date has not been set.
