Rosebud man convicted of sexual contact with an unconscious minor

PIERRE S.D. – Jesse James Leader Charge, age 24, of Rosebud was convicted Monday of Abusive Sexual Contact for an incident in which he was found inappropriately touching a minor girl in her home.

The event happened Jan. 1, 2017 when Leader Charge was consuming alcohol and socializing with a 15-year-old girl in her home. According to a release sent today from the Department of Justice District of South Dakota, the adults in the home were not aware of Leader Charge and the victim’s interactions and later found the victim unconscious with Leader Charge “squatting” over the victim’s body with his hand between her thighs.

Leader Charge left the home without making a scene. “When the other adult in the home noticed what was happening, they asked Leader Charge to leave,” said the SDDOJ release, “Leader Charge then stood up and left the home.”

The FBI investigated the incident and a grand jury indicted Leder Charge on Jan. 23.

Leader Charge pled guilty Jul. 15 and sentenced on Monday by District Judge Roberto A. Lange to 27 months in federal prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release and a $100 fine. He was immediately turned over to the custody of the US Marshals Service to serve out his sentence.
