Rodeo Rapid City set to start its 9-day run

RAPID CITY, S.D. –  It’s that time of year again.

Cowboys and cowgirls from across the country are set to invade the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center for the 43rd annual Rodeo Rapid City.

Once again this year, Rodeo Rapid City will have the good fortune of jump-starting it’s 9-day run with the PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour on Friday, Jan. 31.

Over thirty of the top bull riders will be competing for over $12,000 in prize money.

Throughout the nine-day run, Rodeo Rapid City will feature six PRCA rodeos, the 20-X High School Showcase Rodeo, the Xtreme Bronc Match and the Sutton Ranch Rodeo on Monday, Feb. 3.

“We’ve got over 500 contestants entered in the rodeo and with the other events going on, that’s close to another 500,” Steve Sutton said. “So we’ll have a 1,000 new contestants come in here to do the six PRCA rodeos, the X-bulls, the X-broncs, the 20X high school deal. Then we have the futurity and the bucking horse sale and the ranch rodeo.”
