Rockets fired at Kabul airport but US flights continue
The Islamic State group said it carried out Monday’s attack, which came on the eve of the deadline for U.S. troops to withdraw from Afghanistan after 20 years of war.
The rockets didn’t halt the steady stream of U.S. military C-17 cargo jets taking off and landing at the airport in the capital.
The Islamic State group launched a devastating suicide bombing Thursday at one of the airport gates, killing 169 Afghans and 13 U.S. service members.
The Taliban tightened their security around the airfield after the attack.
