Resurfacing work begins on Highway 44

RAPID CITY, S.D. — East Highway 44 is getting an extreme makeover in the Farmingdale area, and traffic delays are a sure bet.

The Transportation Department began work Monday on an asphalt mill resurfacing project on the highway east of Rapid City.

The work includes milling the current asphalt surface and placing new asphalt concrete with pipe work and bridge repairs.

During construction traffic will be reduced to one lane, with flaggers helping to direct drivers during work hours. Delays are expected during the course of the project.
