Removing fish homes

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A fish house or ice shanty is a portable shed placed on a frozen lake to provide shelter during ice fishing.

They can range from simple fixtures like plastic tarp over two-by-four frames, or be as elaborate as a small cabin with special amenities. Regardless of the type of fixture, ice anglers will be given until midnight, February 29 to remove all fish houses, shelters and structures from the ice. Shelters may still be used after the 29th, but have to be removed by every day.

Anglers are also reminded to clean their local areas, or face fines.
