Relationships growing between community and Ellsworth AFB
ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. — As someone who has worked closely with the wing commanders over the years, the Ellsworth Development Authority continues to grow the relationship as the area preps for the B-21 Raider.
Executive Director for the Authority, Scott Landguth says they’ve been fortunate that previous wing commanders, and additionally Colonel Joseph Sheffield, have spent time at Ellsworth in previous assignments growing the relationship between the community and the base.
Landguth says they aim to make the transition to the area as smooth as possible including tackling some challenges the area is already facing.
“Whatever we can do to help the families transition here better whether that’s housing, working with the school districts to make the kids feel welcome, just those kinds of things and making sure again that the experience that the airmen and their families have here is a very, very positive one,” said Landguth.
He adds that they continue to work with the private sector to tackle issues like the lack of available housing and childcare.
