Registration open for Step Big Walk for Parkinson’s in Sioux Falls

Parkinsons WalkSIOUX FALLS, S.D. — On Monday, the South Dakota Parkinson Foundation announced the new location for their annual Step Big Walk for Parkinson’s event.

The event will take place at Pasley Park in Sioux Falls on Saturday, August 13. Online registration for the event opened on Sunday, May 1.

The annual event is held to create awareness for Parkinson’s, with all funds raised through Step Big Walk going to educational resources, grants and support for families in South Dakota who have dealt with the disease.

The South Dakota Parkinson Foundation says that an estimated 5,000 people in South Dakota are living with the disease, in addition to 10 million cases worldwide. While there is no cure for the disease, there are treatments available that are aimed at improving symptoms of the disease.
