Red Ribbon billboard goes up on Sturgis Road

RAPID CITY, S.D. – As part of Red Ribbon week, three young girls were recognized for their participation in a billboard creating contest.

The objective was to design a billboard with the slogan “send a message, stay drug-free.”

Both the first and second runner up were recognized and received prizes. The winner of the contest, Ally Hartle, a 5th grader from Black Hawk Elementary, has her design displayed on a billboard on Sturgis Rd. in Rapid City.

When asked how she came up with the billboard idea she said this:

“I was thinking about texting and then how peaceful it would be without drugs.”

Each of the kids won their own mini billboard as a keepsake. Ally’s billboard will be up for the next two months.
