RCPD urges everyone to drink responsibly during the holidays

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Despite a decrease in holiday travel, the Rapid City Police Department is still advising those who consume alcohol during the holidays like New Year’s Eve, to do so responsibly.

For those that choose to go out or drink at home, they must remember to drink responsibly.

While holiday celebrations tend to go hand-in-hand with alcohol consumption, it’s vitally important to get a safe ride home.

No matter what, those that drink need to make sure that they make plans to get home safely and not get behind the wheel.

“Do your do diligence, find a sober ride whether that be a friend, family member, utilizing one of our ride share services here in Rapid City, just do the responsible thing and make sure that if you’ve had any alcohol, you’re not getting behind the wheel,” said RCPD Public Information Officer, Brendyn Medina.

Medina says that public safety is the most important thing and if you see someone who is intoxicated, encourage them to find a sober ride.
