RCPD Special Response Team arrests suspect in robbery, aggravated assault, kidnapping
RAPID CITY, S.D. — Late Tuesday evening, the Rapid City Police Department Special Response Team arrested a suspect in connection with several crimes.
According to a Facebook Live given by RCPD Ast. Chief Don Hedrick, earlier Tuesday afternoon, the RCPD learned of a report of a potential robbery, aggravated assault and kidnapping. The suspect in the case was identified as 27-year-old Frank Makes Room For Them of Rapid City.
A joint investigation by the RCPD and PennCo Sheriff’s Office led investigators to the 2500 Block of Tower Road, where the suspect and associates were housed in a hotel room.
The Special Response Team was utilized when it was determined that the suspect was armed with an AR-15 and a handgun. The SWAT team was able to safely detain the suspect and associates without incident.
Ast. Chief Don Hedrick thanked the local agencies, including the Sheriff’s Office, Highway Patrol, Fire Department and dispatch for their cooperation in the joint effort.
The case is still under investigation by the RCPD.
