RCPD responds to shooting at N. Maple Ave. and Surfwood Drive

North side schools have been placed on secure status out of an abundance of caution.

UPDATE (10:30 a.m.): According to RCPD Support Services Captain Scott Sitts, Around 9:30 a.m. Friday Morning, police were called to a residence near the intersection of North Maple Avenue and Surfwood Drive in response to a report that a juvenile female had been shot.

The victim was transported to Monument Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

North Rapid City schools continue to be held on secure status.

Authorities are working to identify the suspect, and believe they have recovered the weapon used in the shooting. The investigation is still ongoing.

RAPID CITY, S..D. — A large law enforcement presence has been called to to the area of North Maple Avenue and Surfwood Drive in response to a reported shooting inside a residence.

According to the Rapid City Police Department Facebook, a female juvenile shooting victim has been transported to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

North side schools have been placed on secure status out of an abundance of caution.
