RCFD to hold ceremony to place new Engine 5 into service
RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Rapid City Fire Department will hold a small ceremony and blessing to place their new Engine 5 into service on Monday, March 1.
The new 2020 engine was delivered to the department in January and it took about a month for the engine to be outfitted with everything it needed to be a functioning engine for the RCFD.
The engine will replace the current 2010 Engine 5, which will then become the department’s reserve engine, meaning it will be the primary backup engine if there is a large incident, or if another apparatus is in maintenance.
This new 2020 engine was purchased as part of their large vehicle replacement plan that they follow. The 2010 engine was next on the list to be replaced.
The ceremony and blessing will be held at Rapid City Fire Station 5, located at 2902 Park Drive, at 10 a.m. on March 1.
