RCFD Station 8 to hold live training at airport
RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City Fire Department’s Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) will have qualified firefighters participating in live fire training at Station 8 at the Rapid City Airport on Monday, September 27.
ARFF is a specialized category of firefighting involving aircraft emergencies and all Station 8 crews and relievers will take part in the training.
Multiple scenarios will take place to allow responders to practice proper fire attack techniques on a plane, so there will be a live fire training prop for a realistic emergency aircraft.
The Federal Aviation Administration requires all airports with commercial traffic to do a live fire training once a year in order to stay ARFF certified.
