RCFD responds to overnight suspicious fire on 12th Street

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday morning, the Rapid City Fire Department was called out for a structure fire in the alley behind the nursing school in the 1000 block of 12th Street.

Upon arrival, they noticed a single stall detached garage on fire. Squad 1 on scene first and was able to extinguish the fire quickly. The fire did not get into the garage itself, but did damage the garage doors and the siding.
RCFD says it does appear that this fire could be related to the previous fires in this area.
A recycle bin that was placed up against the garage. It does appear that something was thrown inside that bin to start the fire.
Rapid City Fire Department Fire and Life Safety Division and the Rapid City Police Department are investigating the incident.
