RAPID CITY, S.D. — An injured hiker was found on a trail in the Hanson-Larsen Memorial Park in a difficult to access area.

Rapid City Fire Department Lt. Paramedic Chris Brubaker found the individual while hiking along the same trail and called for assistance while performing initial assessment and care for the patient.

Station 1 crews as well as the Medic 3 crew used UTV to transport technical rescue equipment and personnel to the end of the nearest trail. From that point, the personnel would hike to the patient.

One person was transported with non-life threatening injuries to the hospital.
