RCFD Hazmat Team responds to construction saw fire

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A construction saw caught fire near the intersection of North Street and Nickel Street Monday.

According to Captain Andy Lipp of the Rapid City Fire Department, just before noon a construction company was cutting concrete in the area when the saw caught fire.

During the fire, a small amount of oil and hydraulic fluid leaked into a storm drain, prompting a response by the Rapid City Fire Department’s Hazmat 6 team.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Responding units included:

RCFD Truck 1, Battalion 1, Squad 1 and Hazmat 6.
