RCFD experiences higher call for service during Fourth of July weekend

RAPID CITY, S.D. — With an increase in fireworks during a summer that hasn’t seen much precipitation, fires are sure to follow.

The Rapid City Fire Department experienced an increased number of calls for service due to the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

From 7 a.M. Saturday to 7 a.M. Sunday, the RCFD responded to a total of 76 calls, 15 of which were fires.

All the fires were believed to be fireworks related.
