RCFD alerts residents to scam calls, emails soliciting donations for department program
RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Fire Department is urging residents to be aware of an ongoing phone and email scam involving an individual asking for donations for the department.
In a tweet Friday morning, the RCFD says an individual is calling or emailing soliciting money for the “fire safety program”.
The RCFD says they do not solicit donations over the phone or email.
We were notified of a scam taking place in which an individual calls or emails soliciting money for the “fire safety program for the Rapid City Fire Department”. This is a scam as we will not solicit donations over the phone or via email.

They urge residents to never give away personal information. Those who believe they have been victim to this scam to contact local law enforcement.
