RCAS Special Board Meeting to address nuances of COVID-19 education

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Rapid City Area Schools Special Board of Education will meet Wednesday night to discuss and vote on a resolution regarding  the criteria for COVID-19 level changes.

The proposed resolution is designed to create or modify the criteria used to change levels in the Together Again Back to School Plan.

If passed, action items would include:

  • that a committee develop a student learning mode decision making tool, which would require specific metrics to be met before there is a level change
  • allow student extra-curricular activity levels to differ from the student learning modes/levels, meaning activities may be able to continue regardless of whether the learning mode is remote and vice versa
  • that the Superintendent will submit a revision to the Together Again Plan that revises the levels and includes a five day a week in-person learning level for the start of the second semester

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and is open to the public, however in-person seating is limited. Individuals can participate via Zoom using the link here.
