RCAS lunch platform opens donation option

RAPID CITY, S.D. – People struggling to help pay for their child’s school lunch might be able to get some help from fellow parents.

Rapid City Area Schools is now using their EFunds lunch payment program to collect donations as a way to help families afford their kids’ breakfast and lunch meals.

Potential donors can now directly donate through the platform as well as select normal payment options. The new donation option benefits families that make too much money to qualify for a free/reduced lunch program but still struggle to pay off the account.

The new feature coincides with the school district’s Student Nutrition Fundraiser, where they aim to raise $25,000 to feed RCAS students.

Janelle Peterson, student nutrition manager for RCAS, said the program offers a convenient way to help local families during and after the holiday season.

“Oftentimes, folks don’t think about offering or … sending their money … to help pay off meal accounts,” Peterson said. “We just want to plant that seed for their charitable donations.”

If you are interested in donating, click here to go to RCAS.org Student Nutrition Services panel and select the “Click Here to Help Feed RCAS Students” banner. The minimum donation amount is $10.
