RCAS, law enforcement investigate Central High School threat

RCAS and local law enforcement determined that the threat was not for the Central High School in our area, and believe there is no credible threat in our community.

RAPID CITY, S.D. — On Friday, Central High School saw a higher law enforcement presence due to a threatening message that was circulating on Snapchat.

The Rapid City Area Schools District determined after further investigation that the Snapchat threat did not originate in the Rapid City area. The threat was referring to another Central High School in a different area. Law enforcement want to reiterate that they do not believe there is a threat in our area.

Law enforcement agencies in multiple areas with a Central High School have also responded and investigated.

RCAS wants to reassure families that their child’s safety is their first priority.
