RCAS keeps mask mandate in 5-2 vote
RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Rapid City Area Schools Board of Education is keeping the mask mandate for now.
In a 5-2 vote Monday, the Board of Education voted to keep the current mask mandate in place for the remainder of the school year.
The RCAS Administration recently surveyed staff and student families about continuing its masking policy.
In an email to parents, RCAS said 40% of staff still support a mandate, while 60% would like to see it go away. The margin was even wider among parents, with 32% supporting the mandate and 68% saying they want it lifted.
