RCAS hosts district kick off for teachers

RAPID CITY, S.D. -Teachers from Rapid City Area Schools gathered at the Civic Center for the District kick off this Friday morning.

Hundreds of teachers from all grade levels gathered in the theater to listen to speakers and learn about the upcoming school year. Among the speakers were Dr. Lori Simon, the superintendent, the teacher of the year, and several others.

Not only is it a training opportunity but it is a chance for teachers to network and connect with mentors.

“Rapid City does a really great job of making everybody feel included and making you feel like you’re not just another teacher,” said Erica Venhuizen, a teacher at Black Hawk Elementary.

Classes for Rapid City Area School students starts next Wednesday.
