RCAS College Applications Week: Students prepare for the future

Through Nov. 8, students can apply to South Dakota Board of Regents Universities or Technical Institutes for free

Junior and Senior High School students in Rapid City Area Schools are being given the opportunity to think about their future.

November is College and Career Readiness Month at Rapid City Area Schools, and this week is college applications week.

Through Nov. 8, students can apply to South Dakota Board of Regents Universities or Technical Institutes for free.

Time has been set aside at Central, Stevens and Rapid City High School this week for students to learn how to fill out applications, learn about financial aid and how to fill out a FAFSA.

Sean Binder, the Youth Internship Coordinator for Rapid City High School talked about the importance of this process.

“Really, it’s important that we get students excited for their future,” Binder stated. “Whether that’s career, world of work, or college, we just want to get them excited for something after high school so that they’re successful and productive members of our community.”

If students choose to apply during college application week, Rapid City Area Schools say they will have teachers, counselors and volunteers available to help them get started.
