RCAS Board of Education Passes authorizes election for bond issue

RAPID CITY, S.D. — On Monday evening, the Board of Education passed a resolution to authorize an election for a bond issue.

The decision on making district facility improvements will now be in the hands of voters, with the proposal aimed at targeting overcrowding.

The $250M proposal calls for shutting down three elementary schools, Canyon Lake, Horace Mann and Robbinsdale, and then building new ones while improving two other RCAS facilities.

The election is set for September 17, 2019.
