RC Stevens boys to play for a state soccer title

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –  The boys high school soccer playoffs continued Tuesday with the Class ‘AA’ semi-finals.   

After surprising No. 3 Sioux Falls Jefferson in the quarterfinals, Rapid City Stevens pulled off another big upset.

Stevens knocked off second ranked Sioux Falls O‘Gorman by a final score of 3-0.

The Raiders scored three goals within five minutes early in the second half.

Luther Busching led the Raiders with two goals and Ryan Gaughan added another goal.

Stevens will be making their fourth trip to the state title match since 2015.

The Raiders won the state championship in 2015 and finished runner-up in 2016 and 2020.

The Raiders will face fourth seeded Sioux Falls Lincoln in the state championship on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Both teams have identical records of 12-2-1.

The match is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. MT at Tea Area High School.
