RC Christian boys basketball team off to a strong start
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Not even four weeks into the boys basketball season and there’s only five undefeated teams remaining in Class ‘A’.
Groton Area, Sioux Valley, Dakota Valley, St. Thomas More and the Rapid City Christian Comets.
The Comets return a core group of players from last year’s team that finished 17-5.
As a matter of fact, Rapid City Christian has five seniors on this year’s team who are providing valuable leadership.
However, the Comets are also receiving solid play from juniors Sam Schlabach and Presley Myers.
So far this season, the Comets are 4-0 after outscoring their opponents by an average of 37 points per game.
Rapid City Christian head coach Kyle Courtney isn’t surprised by his team’s early success.
“We’ve got some veteran leaders,” Rapid City Christian boys basketball coach Kyle Courtney said. “Jack Roisum, Terrance Asbridge, Ethan Wipf, Sam Schlabach, all guys that have played varsity minutes. The other thing is we’ve had good team chemistry. We’ve got a great group of kids that come to practice everyday and work hard. It’s been a blessing.”
The Comets play their next five games on the road starting with the Wall Eagles on Thursday, Jan. 9.
