RC Central girls basketball coach Kraig Blomme steps down after 20 seasons

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Central will have several new head coaches next season.

The Cobblers have already hired new football and volleyball head coaches.

Plus, longtime track and field coach Dave Dolan recently announced his retirement.

Now Central is searching for a new girls basketball coach, as well.

Kraig Blomme has resigned after 20 seasons as the Rapid City Central head girls basketball coach.

His most successful season was in 2011 when the Cobblers finished 3rd at the State ‘AA’ Tournament.

This past season, the Cobblers finished with an 8-13 record.

Overall, coach Blomme’s record at Central was 226-239.

“We’ll begin the search process immediately to find our next head girls’ basketball coach,” said Jordan Bauer, Rapid City Central Activities Director. “Some important qualities our next candidate will be enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and the ability to build positive relationships with our student athletes. Finding someone who understands the importance of holding student-athletes accountable in the weight room, along with summer programming will also be important factors in the selection process. All of these elements will play a large role in what will be highly preferred of our next girls’ basketball coach at Rapid City Central High School.”
