RC Central football players sign with Mount Marty University

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A pair of student-athletes from Rapid City Central plan to take their talents to the next level.

Jaxson Fairchild, Mount Marty University, Football

Jaxson Fairchild signed a letter of intent on Wednesday to play football next year at Mount Marty University in Yankton.

The senior was a two-year starter in football and lettered in both football and soccer.

This past season, Fairchild was the leading receiver in both yards and touchdowns for the Cobblers.

He plans to play tight end for Mount Marty.

“They recruited me at tight end and I think I’m going to be playing in what they call it a super back,” said Jaxson Fairchild. “It’s a tight end full back position there. It’s a little hybrid. So I’ll be lead blocker for the running back or going out and catching routes and blocking on the line. So I’m excited. It’s going to be a new position. But I’m excited to pick it up and play some ball.”

Sawyer Saucerman, Mount Marty University, Football

Sawyer Saucerman from Rapid City Central is also joining the football team at Mount Marty University.

Saucerman played four years of football for Central and started his last two years.

In fact, he was the second leading rusher on the team last fall.

Saucerman plans to major in criminal justice.

“I really like the coaches and the environment there,” said Sawyer Saucerman. “Just how it was over there when I visited. Everybody was really nice and I think I’ll fit in really well there.”
